Taco & Emerson-Swan Celebrate 75 Years of Business Partnership

Leading heating and plumbing equipment manufacturer Taco, Inc. and New England based manufacturer rep agency Emerson-Swan, Inc. have celebrated 75 years of business association together. The two companies have been associated in business since 1935, just three years after Emerson-Swan started out in business, and seventeen years after the creation of Taco (then the Thermal Appliance Co.) in 1920. 

2010 marks Taco’s 90th year in business. Returning an initial gesture of recognition and thanks provided to Taco and its employees by Emerson-Swan, Taco President and CEO John Hazen White, Jr. and members of Taco’s Executive Operating Committee paid a visit to Emerson-Swan headquarters in Randolph, MA recently to host a barbecue lunch for Emerson-Swan employees. Introduced by Joe Swan, Chief Executive Officer of Emerson-Swan, Mr. White presented an oversize thank-you card signed by virtually all of Taco’s employees.

“Taco has been in business for 90 years, so we virtually grew up in the business together,” commented John White on the occasion. “My father forged a close working relationship with Tom Swan Sr., and he lived to work with Tom’s sons, Tom and Joe. For the past 30 years, I’ve worked closely with Tom and Joe, senior veterans in the business.

 Over the decades Taco and Emerson-Swan have been through thick and thin together, helping each other out in tough times, and so it’s especially gratifying to see how each company has succeeded. I am sure that Emerson-Swan, like other manufacturer rep stalwarts in our industry, can point to other manufacturers that they’ve been representing for many decades, and Taco has similar long-term relationships ongoing with other major rep agencies around the country. When all is said and done, it’s close, long term relationships like these that make our business go round.”
